The Super Eagles of Nigeria, on Thursday night, defeated Sierra Leone 2-1 in a Day one match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series at the MKO Abiola Stadium.
The Leone Stars took the lead in the match when Jonathan Morsay scored a stunning goal with a diving header from a beautiful Musa Kamara’s cross.
Four minutes later, the visitors could have made it 2-0 when they hit the upright on another counter-attack, but Nigeria equalised in the 16th minute when Moses Simon scored after an exchange of passes between him and Alex Iwobi.
Four minutes before halftime, Victor Osimhen scored Nigeria’s second goal when he drove the ball into the roof of the net from a Moses Simon header off Ola Aina’s cross from the right.
