NGO YAHSII mark this Year’s menstrual hygiene day (MHD22)

A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which has identified as Youths and Adolescence Health Sensitization International Initiative (YAHSII) As part of her campaign to mark this Year’s menstrual hygiene day (MHD22) event, Youths and Adolescence Health Sensitization International Initiative – YAHSII with support from Oakbreed International School @OIS have engaged adolescent girls and young adult women in U/Gwari community in Kaduna North and Government Secondary School, Yakasai Soba, zaria LGA both in Kaduna State.

Addressing the participants, speaker for the day Mrs. Zainab Nurudeen urged them to maintain optimum hygiene during their menstruation. She also encouraged them to prioritize the purchase and use of sanitary pads every month in other to avoid infections and diseases.

YAHSII Founder and President, Dr. Michael Nwaokike who was present at the event provided well detailed and simplified answers to all their questions. He also reassured them of the organizations commitment to the cause and her desire to see every menstruating girl in the community lifted out of period poverty so they can be well on track to attaining economic self-reliance.

The event marks the beginning of an initial twenty-four months’ campaign Tagged: RED-WHITE CAMPAIGN and with the aim of Ending period poverty and open defecation across communities in Four Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.

The community leader together with all the participants thanked YAHSII for the education, distribution of sanitary pads and prayed for the growth and sustenance of the organization.

Parents and guardians are therefore charged to pay attention to the health of the girl child especially as they grow into womanhood and an appeal is made to the government and concerned agencies to provide sanitary pad, other toiletries and facilities that will help the girl child maintain good hygiene.
