The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Mr. Ayuba Elkanah, has called on religious leaders and other security stakeholders in the state to always preach peace, religious tolerance and respect for one another.
Mr. Elkanah disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Gusau after meeting with religious leaders in the State in the wake of the crisis that rocked neighbouring state – Sokoto – after the killing of Deborah Samuel.
He also called on parents and guardians to ensure proper monitoring of their children and wards on the use of social media, to checkmate their daily activities.
In their separate remarks, the religious leaders commended the Commissioner of Police for initiating the meeting, as well as the proper handling of the security situation in Zamfara State.
They, therefore, assured Mr. Elkanah of their commitment for peaceful co-existence among their followers and those from other religions.
