The 2021/2022 season in the Gabonese National Division One Football Championship (Linaf) will resume with Day One matches on May 14.

Secretary-General of the National League of Professional Football (Linaf), Charles Nzego, disclosed that it was now very necessary for the league to return.

He said this would help the league, which has been structured in a new format, to meet up with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) calendar for the ongoing season.

The Gabonese top-tier championship was last played in 2019, but was abandoned halfway, with the Gabonese football federation (FEGAFOOT) deciding not to promote or relegate teams that season.

According to reports, Bouenguidi sport and AS Mangasport were leaders of their respective pools at the time the championship was stopped in 2019, and they have been representing Gabon in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.
