The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has refused to agree to a plan to double the number of Formula One ‘sprint’ events next season.
The teams had unanimously supported a proposal from commercial rights holder Formula One to hold six sprint events next year at Tuesday’s meeting of the Formula One Commission.
However, in a statement, the sport’s governing body, FIA, said it was evaluating the impact of the proposal on its trackside operations and personnel.
Several sources say the FIA asked for more money in return for its support.
