Dangote Cement Plc has sustained its position as a leading contributor to Nigeria’s economy with a tax charge of 173.93 billion naira for last year.
According to the group’s audited results released on the portal of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the tax charge represents an increase of 78.7 per cent over 97.24 billion naira paid in 2020.
Analysis of the cement company’s financial result indicated that the group’s sales volume stood at 29.3 metric tonnes, with Nigeria accounting for 18.61 metric tonnes, while operations in other countries was 10.86 metric tonnes.
The Group’s revenue was 1.38 trillion naira for the year, which is made up of 993.34 billion naira from Nigeria and 397.32 billion naira from other African plants.
The company also recorded a gross profit of 538.37 billion naira and after-tax profit of 364.44 billion naira, while earnings per share increased to 21.24 naira from 16.14 naira.
