Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has thanked Liverpool fans in England for the respect and compassion they displayed at the Anfield stadium, following the death of his baby boy.
Manchester United and Liverpool fans were united in a fan-led minute of applause in support of Ronaldo and his family during Tuesday’s league game, which ended 4-0 in favour of Liverpool.
Liverpool supporters sang their club’s anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone” after seven minutes, which tallied with Ronaldo’s jersey number.
37-year-old Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, aged 28, had on Monday, announced the death of their baby boy, but his twin sister survived.
