Honourable Justice Kabiru Dabo of High Court 1, Dogarawa, Zaria, Sabon Gari  Local Area of Kaduna State has fixed  27th April, 2022 for the adoption of final written address in the case challenging  lack of constitutional minimum educational qualification to contest the Governorship election in Kaduna State.
The case was instituted by a concerned PDP member, Abdullahi Isa (plaintiff) against Rt. Honourable Ashiru Mohammad Isa (defendant) who was the standard bearer of PDP in the 2019 Governorship election.
During cross examination  by the Counsel to the Defendant, Samuel Atung SAN, the plaintiff (Abdullahi)
said he filed the suit based on  concerns being expressed and peddled in political circles and the media by Dr. Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau) who also contested against Isah Ashiru for the PDP Governorship ticket in 2019.
The Plaintiff said further that he  filed the suit because of the fear  that if Honourable Ashiru who is again contesting for the 2023 Governorship, wins the forthcoming election, his victory will be annulled at the election petition tribunal for lack of the minimum qualification, as prescribed by law.
But when asked if he had ever written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or any of the institutions that the defendant, Honourable Ashiru
claimed he attended, for the true certified copies of the Certificates he claimed possession, the plaintiff replied ‘no’.
Honourable Ashiru in his evidence before the trial Court tendered six(6) certificates issued to him by different educational institutions he had attended, including a Master Degree in  Public Policy and Administration from Bayero University, Kano.
