 Gunmen suspected to be members of secessionist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have reportedly attacked an Army patrol van in Aba, a commercial city in Abia State.

It was gathered the incident which occurred in the early hours of Friday when the soldiers were on patrol, triggered tension in the area after the attackers laid ambush for the unsuspecting soldiers at the popular Tonimas junction, Osisioma LGA axis, on Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway.

This is happening a day after gunmen on Thursday evening invaded a cattle market in Igboukwu in Aguata local government area, killing cows and goats in the market.

It was gathered that the gunmen headed to Igboukwu after they left Ekwulobia, the headquarters of Soludo’s Local government council, Aguata, where they burnt down structures and vehicles.

The Anambra State Police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga described it as cruelty to animals.
