A non-governmental organisation ‘Eagle Lead Development Initiative’ (ELDI), on Wednesday in Kaduna, commenced a two-day sensitisation to educate students on the dangers of drug abuse.

Speaking during the event, held at Government Day Secondary School, Television area, Kaduna metropolis, a facilitator, Miss Aduak Yebyen, said the exercise was aimed at addressing the increase in cases of substance abuse among teenage boys and girls.

In his remarks, the Executive Director of the organisation, Mr Peter Ezekiel, advised the students to work hard and build resilience to any form of peer pressure that would lead to substance abuse.

He called on the State Government to establish clubs in secondary schools across the state that would discourage substance abuse among students.

Reports said that after the sensitisation, the pupils were made to pledge not to allow or be lured into drug-abuse.
