The Executive Secretary, National Sugar Development Council, Zacch Adedeji, has warned that government will no longer tolerate deliberate alteration of the Nigerian Sugar Master Plan (NSMP) by operators.
Mr. Adedeji, who said this on Thursday, added that operators who violated the master plan would henceforth, be sanctioned.
He also said that Flour Mills Limited recently signed a multi-million-dollar agreement with the Nasarawa State government to build a factory in Toto Local Government Area of the state.
The new project is in addition to the company’s 50-billion-naira Golden Sugar estate in Sunti, Niger state which President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned in 2018.
Report says that the NSMP is a 10-year roadmap designed for the sector to enable the nation to attain self-sufficiency in sugar production, create jobs, and generate electricity among other noble objectives.
