French President, Emmanuel Macron, says Russian President, Vladimir Putin, assured him that his forces would not increase the crisis near Ukraine’s borders.
US officials believe Russia has assembled 70 percent of military forces needed for a full-scale attack on neighbouring Ukraine.
However, Russia has continued to deny any plans to attack Ukraine.
The tensions between Russia, Ukraine and the West come nearly eight years after Russia took over and occupied Ukraine’s southern Crimea peninsula.
