Federal Government promises to honour agreement with Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The Federal Government says it will honour promises made to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
President Muhammadu Buhari gave the assurance, on Tuesday, at the presidential villa in Abuja while receiving members of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC).
According to him, doing this will prevent disruptive strikes, encourage uninterrupted academic programmes and improve funding of educational institutions.

The President commended the leadership of Council for intervening in the year-long strike by ASUU and holding consultations with the parties.
Report says that the NIREC was led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Reverend Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle.
