The Management of Al-Qalam University in Katsina State on Saturday described as untrue, reports of a bomb blast at the university.
The spokesperson for the university, Alhaji Akilu Abubakar, denied the reports in a statement.
He called on the public to disregard the reports of the blast in the social media, saying it was “fake news”, as the University was safe.
Abubakar said what happened was that a moving truck along Dutsin-ma Road experienced tyre-burst around 8:30 pm, but mischief makers capitalised on the incident to spread the fake news about a bomb blast inside the university.
He added that the university was carrying out an investigation to identify the source of the fake information.
