The Kaduna State Government has promised to cooperate with the National Population Commission (NPC) to ensure accurate and reliable census in Nigeria.
Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai, made the promise when chairman of NPC, Nasiru Isa Kwarra, paid him a courtesy visit.
While saying that his government believes in the use of credible data in policymaking, governor el-Rufai expressed satisfaction that the NPC has up to 340 vital registration centres in the State but also asked for more centres to be created.
Governor el-Rufai also disclosed that the Kaduna Bureau of Statistics has been very active in undertaking all kinds of data collection.
In his remarks, the NPC Chairman said that the NPC would be ready in May 2022 to conduct the first digital population census in Nigeria.
He also said that the delegation’s visit to Kaduna State was to solicit the support of the governor in areas of sensitisation.
