One major fallout of the recent happening at Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos concerning the death of a 12-year-old student of the school, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr has been the appeal and viability of the boarding school system in Nigeria.
In recent times the absurd stories from this system of education has become frightening and an eyesore such that there has to be shared responsibility on what has gone wrong.
In a chat session with a cross section of Nigerians there were different opinions on the efficacy of boarding schools in the country especially with the recent trend of insecurity, moral decadence, intense bullying and the likes.
They also had different thoughts on what they would do if their child was the victim.
With the diverse thoughts and differences of parents and their parenting style including schools, it is expected that the right measures will be put in place to avoid a repeat of the sad event.
