Defence Minister says Nigeria threatened by new dimensions of threats.

The Minister of Defence, retired Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi, says the prevalence of the various security threats in Nigeria has adversely affected food security thereby posing new dimension of threats to the country.
Magashi stated this at the opening of a retreat for Defence Advisers/Attaches Conference, organised by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Monday in Abuja.
Magashi said that the Defence Advisers/Attachés system had crucial roles to play by forging understanding and cooperation with the security and defence architectures in their respective countries of accreditation.
The National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno, represented by his Principal General Staff Officer, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Ndalolo said the defence Attachés/Advisers were considered as critical stakeholders in surmounting the myriad of security challenges facing Nigeria.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Maj.-Gen. Samuel Adebayo, said the conference is an annual event which affords DIA a medium to assiduously review the activities of all its defence sections.
The Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, urged attachés to use their position to support the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in Nigeria.
The conference/retreat has the theme, ‘’Advancing Counterterrorism Efforts through Enhanced Inter-Agency Cooperation: A Whole of Government Approach”.

In the meantime, An Air Force personnel has been arrested in connection with the attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna State.
Three months after the incident, authorities of the Nigerian Air Force have now linked one of its officers with the incident.
A source confirmed the arrest of the suspect on National Television on Monday.
The suspect – Sergeant Torsabo Solomon – was reportedly arrested on the order of the Base Commander as requested by the NDA Commander.
It was gathered that the suspect has been moved to Kaduna for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, the NDA has said Solomon is not in their custody and has no connection with the academy in Kaduna in a statement signed by Major Bashir Muhammed Jajira, the NDA said the perpetrators of the attack will be apprehended soon.
