The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command, says the six persons, who were kidnapped from the University of Abuja, have regained their freedom.

Spokesman for the FCT, Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed this to newsmen on Friday.

According to her, the kidnapped persons were rescued by a joint team of operatives from various security agencies.

She said that they were rescued about three days after gunmen attacked the staff quarters of the university in Gwagwalada Area Council of the nation’s capital.

It would be recalled that the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNIABUJA Chapter, Dr Kasim Umar, had on Thursday given the Federal Government a 48-hour ultimatum to rescue the kidnapped victims.

In another statement on Friday Dr Umar, confirmed that the victims have been rescued and that no ransom was paid for their release.
