The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of the Director-General of Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Agency (KASUPDA), Ismail Umaru Dikko, over some regulatory problems at the agency.

Operatives of the anti-graft agency, on Monday morning, stormed the headquarters of KASUPDA and whisked away Dikko in a black Hilux Toyota vehicle to the Kaduna zonal office of the commission.

According media reports, the KASUPDA DG had been invited severally to the headquarters of EFCC but he refused honour their invitation.

Eye witness report say Dikko was said to be in a meeting with his staff when officials of the EFCC stormed his office and took him away, adding that there was some resistance from the staff of KASUPDA who had closed the main gate to prevent the EFCC officials from taking him away. However, the DG was said to have directed the security guards to open the gate.

Responding to enquiry on the development by newsmen, EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, explained that Dikko was not invited for fraud but based on some regulatory issues, which he said had been resolved.

According to reports, there were at least five petitions before the anti-graft agency against KASUPDA and its head, bordering on pieces of land recovered after demolition, but were allegedly sold to cronies and people loyal to the Kaduna State government.
