A Kaduna High Court presided over by Justice Esther Lolo has ordered the Kaduna State lndependent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) to compile and announce the election result for Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State conducted on September 4, 2021.
The electoral body KADSIECOM had on 10 September declared the election inconclusive, and directed that election be conducted in five Wards on September 25.
However, the court ordered that status quo be maintained, after the Kaduna State PDP, the presume winner of the election, challenged KAD-SIECOM decision.
The PDP had claimed victory for both the Chairmanship and all the 12 Councillor seats in the September 4th election but KAD-SIECOM certified only seven Wards, which were all won by the PDP.
When contacted on the ruling, KAD-SIECOM Chairman, Dr. Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu said the commission would make its position known soon after it received due briefing by its legal team on the matter.
The PDP is also challenging in court its victory in both Kachia and Jaba council areas, which it alleged, the commission denied it by declaring the election inconclusive.
