Court nullifies section 22 sub section 5 of Kaduna State Electoral Law 2021.

A Kaduna High Court presided over by Justice Edward Andow has declared as nullity Section 22 sub section 5 of the Kaduna State Electoral Law 2021, that was passed by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, and assented to by the Governor, Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai.

The section empowers the Governor to appoint an Administrator to preside over the affairs of any Local Government in the state in the event of inconclusive election or where it could not take place due to violence or other related reasons.

Briefing Invicta News on the verdict, Counsel to the plaintiff, Dr. Ayodele Adewole said the section of electoral law was declared nullity because it is inconsistent with provision of Section 1and 7/1 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

Dr. Adewole explained further the relieves sort by the three plaintiffs who are the Kaduna State Chapter of the PDP; Honourable Felix Hassan Hyat and Honourable Ibrahim Aliyu Wusono.

On what the landmark judgement portends, especially given three days to the council election, Dr. Adewole was explicit.
