Social Safety nets increase between May to July 2021 – SOCU

There has been an upsurge in the mining of the Social register for all pro poor interventions in Kaduna state between May and July according to the Coordinator of the State Operations Coordinating Unit, Dawong Nina Yakwal.
The team lead noted that the frequency was as a result of efficiency on its part as well as the directive by the State government for the document to be a reference point for social safety nets in August 2020.
Mrs Yakwal said various welfare packages and empowerments have been enjoyed by different layers of people include Health, women and Girls privileges.
It was also revealed that the delay in the sharing of the CACOVID palliatives which elicited negative reactions was as a result of getting authentic data to work with from the Register.
For education, poor and venerable Girls in primary 6 and JSS 3 were mined as well in an aid to pay tuition.
The Uba Sani Foundation for Financial inclusion mined 2,800 names in the 7 LGAS of Kaduna Central, National office Cash transfer programme paid 5,000 to 34,964 in the initial 9 LGAS but has been expanded to 34,000 more and will receive their payments soon, there was also the pulling out of 10,000 persons with 8,000 for the aged and 2,000 for People living with disability for an expanded programme of 5,000 naira.
