Media Technology, Programming driving force for human development – Anthony Shawuya.

The Deputy Director, Media Service Center, Kaduna, Reverend Father Anthony Shawuya, says the desire to impact the development of the human person using best practices in media technology and programming, are its driving force and the concept of media for human development.

He stated this in a short speech delivered during the graduation and matriculation ceremony of participants at a 13-week certificate course on development communication at the Catholic Media Centre, Kaduna.

Reverend Father Shawuya explained that the Media Service Center think tank conceived the idea before the National University Council would collapse Mass Communication into 7 departments one of which is Development Communication.

He added that the course is the first of its kind in the whole of Kaduna state and the entire northern region of Nigeria.

The Deputy Director of the Centre said the courses are open to everyone, irrespective of age groups and faiths.

He equally dwelt on the number of students who have enrolled and graduated as well as how justice can translate into empowering people to become useful to themselves and the society.

Courses offered include Entrepreneurship, New media, Development Communication, Photography, Videography, Inter-Personal Communication, Communication skills amongst others.
