The Chairman, Kaduna State lndependent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), Dr. Saratu Dikko Audu has said that electronic voting and transmission of election results is doable in Nigeria, if the lndependent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) is given full legal frame work.
Coming from a background of being the first state to trail the blaze in the country in the conduct of election with the Electronic Voting Machine, in the 2018 Local Government election in Kaduna, she said it received over 95 percent credibility acceptance.
Reacting to the controversy that trailed the passage of the Electoral Amendment Bill 2021, by the National Assembly last week with conditional provision for Electronic transmission of election results, she said the fear was unfounded.
Speaking on likely challenges the system can pose, she said no system is perfect, but can be improved to attain desired results.
She said Nigeria cannot allowed itself to be left behind in this fast technological age where most services are being automated, therefore, should develop the political will to catch up with the digital era which make things simpler, cost effective and with better results.
