Former Provost, Jos ECWA Theological Seminary (JETS), Professor Yusuf Turaki, says Service Chiefs have failed to tackle insecurity from its root.

Professor TURAKI said this when he spoke as a guest Speaker at a one-day peace and security summit organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

He wondered why Nigeria is still being confronted with such challenges, despite human and natural resources it is endowed with.

Professor Turaki, who is a one-time General Secretary of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), said the challenges have forced clergymen to preach violence.

He also described insecurity as a state of being insecure or a lack of assurance as regards one’s safety.

The guest Speaker, who traced the origin of insecurity in Nigeria to religious ideologies, said that such ideologists would fight anyone who refuses to accept their religious ideologies.

The Peace and Security Summit had as its theme; “Nigeria’s Insecurity: The Church’s Response in the 21st Century”.
