Kaduna State University, KASU, has announced the resumption of full academic activities, after about two weeks closure.
A release signed by the Registrar, Samuel S. Manshop, said the management of the University wishes to notify staff, students and the general public that academic activities for the 2020/2021 Academic Session have commenced with effect from Tuesday, 22nd June, 2021.
According to the statement, all students are advised to continue with their registration exercise.
However, the statement further stated that parents/Guardians of all fresh and returning students are expected to sign a letter of undertaking at the respective departments, indicating that their children/ward will be of good behaviour and conduct.
KASU was shut down on 10th June following series of protests by undergraduate students, both on campus and Kaduna metropolis against arbitrary hike in tuition fee.
The students’ representatives had met with the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who promised to meet with them in the school for possible consideration of a review of the new tuition regime, but the Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai during last Thursday Media Chat, ruled out any downwards review.
