Traders in Station Market groan over displacement in Kaduna.

Makeshift Stalls and Shop Owners at the Station Market have been groaning after the one-week notice given to them to vacate their business residence.

Invicta News Correspondents Ramatu Hassan and Salome Ayis during an observation tour noted that after the one-week order which elapsed on Sunday 30th May, 2021 after the Nigerian Union of railway Workers officials, working with Railway Property Management Company limited, Northern Zone under the directive of the State Government ensured that the directive is followed to the latter.

The traders, while speaking to Invicta News explained what happened and queried the rationale to vacate the market place within a week without any provisional place to relocate and continue trading.

Others like Alhaji Mohammed Sani a trader who has being selling goods, in the market station for the past ten years lamented the impact of such action.

In a reaction, the Zonal Manager Railway Property Management Company limited, Northern Zone Sagir Suleiman revealed the reason why its officials were asked to follow up on the directive citing congestion as the main reason.

With no proper place to move to, some traders were seen trading in the open and have pleaded with the government to consider the masses when taking any decision like this.
